Twenty-Six Land on Skyline Fall Academic Honor Roll

NEW YORK — Recognizing outstanding achievement in the classroom and the playing field, 26 student-athletes from St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) were named to the Skyline Academic Honor Roll as announced by Skyline Conference Commissioner Linda Bruno yesterday.

"SJC Brooklyn student-athletes continue to succeed in the classroom, and we are very proud to have so many Bears recognized by the Skyline Conference," commented Director of Athletics and Recreation James Lally. "The dedication it takes to excel in all aspects of being a student-athlete, from athletic to academic and being role models in the community, is what being a Bear is all about. We are thrilled at the work our student-athletes do in representation of St. Joseph's College."

The academic honor roll distinguishes student-athletes in the league who compiled a 3.3 grade point average during the fall semester while competing in the conference's seven fall sports—men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's golf, women's tennis and women's volleyball.

"It is an honor to recognize these student-athletes – who truly exemplify what the student-athlete experience is all about," said Bruno. "Their ability to excel academically and athletically is a testament to the hard work and dedication they put in, and should serve as an example to all."

In total, 460 student athletes across the league received the distinction and the Bears increased their total by two from those honored the previous fall. Women's Soccer led the way with eight honorees followed by Men's Soccer and Women's Volleyball's who had six selections each.

Twenty-one of the 26 honored were also members of the inaugural Bears Scholar-Athlete Team, maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher for the semester. Three student-athletes also participated in two sports.

Denise Trerotola of women's tennis also garnered All-Skyline Conference First Team honors in her respective sport.

Congratulations to all the honorees from SJC Brooklyn:
