  • Four Named to Inaugural HVWAC All-Academic Team

    NEW YORK, NY – In the inaugural Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) All-Academic Team for the Fall Semester, four Lady Bears have been honored with the award. Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge), Hannah Darnell (Nashville, TN/Siegel ), Joanna Marciniec (Glendale, NY/Baruch) and Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) have been rewarded for their efforts in the classroom and in their respective sports.

    NEW ROCHELLE, NY – After upsetting the regular season champions Sarah Lawrence College in the semifinals, the St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team's hopes for a sixth Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference title in past seven years were dashed with a heartbreaking five-set loss to defending champions College of New Rochelle, 3-2 (16-25,25-18,23-25,25-12,15-9).
  • Women's Volleyball Advances to HVWAC Semis Rolling Past Yeshiva in Straight Sets

    NEW YORK, NY – In the opening round of the 2010 Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament, the #4 St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team dismissed the #5 Yeshiva Maccabees in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-17), repeating the result from their regular season encounter. Senior outside hitter Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) paced the Lady Bears with 15 kills and a season-high .467 hitting percentage.
  • St. Joseph’s Poised to Make Deep Run in HVWAC Tournament

    BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team, looking for their sixth HVWAC Championship in seven years, received some good news last night as Pratt defeated Yeshiva in the final conference game of the year. The Cannoneers victory launched the Lady Bears from the #5 seed to the #4 seed, thus setting up an opening round match against the Yeshiva Maccabees Thursday night at Hunter College at 8:30 pm.

    BROOKLYN, NY – Playing Lehman College for the second time in less than a week, the St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-17) to the Lightning on Friday night in the final home game for seniors Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood), Melissa Simo (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood), Kathy McCarthy (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) and Lauren Norris (Sunnyside, NY/Long Island City).

    JERSEY CITY, NJ - The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team fell at the hands of New Jersey City University Tuesday night in straight sets, 3-0. The loss drops the team to 6-17 and 2-3 in the Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC).

In their final conference game of the regular season, St. Joseph’s won in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-17), over the Yeshiva Maccabees.

    NEW YORK, NY – St. Joseph’s junior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) has received Hudson Valley Women’s Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week honors in an announcement made by the conference yesterday. This is the second time this season Matthews has been selected as the Rookie of the Week, also receiving the honor for the week of September 22.

    BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph's College women's volleyball team was defeated by the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons on Tuesday night in an intense conference battle 3-2. The Lady Bears are now 4-12 on the year and 1-2 in the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference, while the Gryphons are 3-8 and 1-1 in conference play. Senior Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) had a match-high 16 kills and fell a dig shy of a double-double.

    RIVERDALE, NY – Behind a trio of double-double performances from seniors Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) and Melissa Simo (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood), and junior Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), the St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball took host Mount Saint Vincent to the limit falling in five sets on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Bears were overpowered by Ramapo losing 3-0 earlier in the day.

The Lady Bears disposed of the Pratt Cannoneers in five sets, 22-25, 25-10, 25-22, 18-25, 15-11.

    JAMAICA, NY – The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, falling in three sets to Old Westbury (25-12, 25-10, 25-16) but coming back strong against York College, pushing the match to a fifth set before falling to the Lady Cardinals (24-26, 25-11, 25-17, 25-21, 11-15).

    BROOKLYN, NY - The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team lost in four sets (21-25, 12-25, 25-17, 23-25) to Medgar Evers College in their first HVWAC conference game Monday night. The loss drops the Lady Bears record to 2-6 (0-1 HVWAC), while the Lady Cougars advance to 4-3 (1-0 HVWAC).

    BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team finished 1-1 at Saturday’s home tri-match. The Lady Bears lost to Keystone College (6-4, 0-0 CSAC) in four sets (19-25, 16-25, 25-22, 17-25), but finished the day with a 3-1 win against College of St. Elizabeth 3-1 (25-9, 25-10, 23-25, 25-19).

    BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph’s College Lady Bears volleyball team was defeated by the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in straight sets on Thursday night, 25-20, 25-16, 25-22. The Lady Bears put together a strong effort in their first home match of the season, but weren’t able to upend the undefeated Bulldogs as they fall to 1-4 overall (0-0 HVWAC) on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 5-0 (3-0 CUNY)

    UNION, NJ – After dropping decisions to Keystone and Southern Vermont on Friday night, the St. Joseph’s College women’s volleyball team defeated Cooper Union in straight sets on Saturday afternoon to notch their first victory of the season. The Lady Bears stand at 1-3 after falling to host Kean University 3-0 in the finale.
