BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Head Coach Kathleen O'Neill begins her 10th season at the helm of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team as the team hosts Medgar Evers College on Tuesday, September 5 in their 2017 season opener at The Hill Center.
There will be plenty of opportunities for fans to catch the Bears in Brooklyn as the fall slate features 12 home games including two tri-matches in the beautiful new venue on the Clinton Hill campus. SJC looks to continue a home-court advantage after posting a 7-2 mark on their home floor last season. O'Neill comes fresh off collecting her 100th career victory in 2016 en route to finishing at 12-12, the first .500 season since the 2013 campaign.
The 21-match schedule opens with four straight non-league contests and the Bears hosting William Paterson University (September 7) and Baruch College (September 19) before their Skyline Conference opener against SJC Long Island (September 28) in Patchogue.
Cedar Crest College and the College of Staten Island then visit on September 30 for the first of two Saturday tri-matches.
League play resumes on October 4 as the Bears welcome SUNY College at Old Westbury to begin a stretch of six of seven games at the Hill Center. Conference foes College of Mount Saint Vincent (October 10), Maritime College (October 12), runner-up USMMA (October 15), and Sarah Lawrence College (October 15) headline the home league schedule.
Wrapping up the heavy home slate are non-conference tilts against borough rivals Brooklyn College (October 17) and a Senior Night test against New Jersey City University (October 26).
Conference tri-matches at Mount Saint Mary (October 21) and Yeshiva (October 29) highlight the road schedule as the Bears seek their first Skyline post-season berth.
The six-team Skyline Championships begin with first-round action on Tuesday, October 31.
